Online Arabic Courses

  • The Arabic courses are intended as stepping stones, or pre-courses, for a person who wishes to see if Arabic learning is for them.

Through repetition and overlearning, the aim is for participants to go on and enrol in formal Arabic programmes of their choice with increased confidence and zeal.

  • Participants with previous experiences have said they felt rushed in other courses. In these classes, there is a lot of repetition and overlearning. We take our time with each concept and have no deadline pressurising us to rush through and ‘finish’. If something is unclear, we do not move further until everyone is confident.

  • Please be aware that I am not in favour of recordings as they may not offer the full experience. I prefer to interact with everyone and ensure they understand.

It is very easy to teach a beginners’ course and then charge people for recordings of it rather than re-running the programme. This tactic is popular. Recordings are only now available as they were requested by those who missed the course when it ran live.

The beginner-level programme (Arabic Grammar Level 1) ran twice in 2020. This was so that more people could join and benefit from the live experience.

However, in 2021, I wished to focus on those same participants and offer them the opportunity to learn more. Hence, Level 2 began.

I have run Level 1 twice more in 2024, in the local area.

I prefer to work with the same small group, progressing from beginner to intermediate level, rather than repeatedly run beginner courses. Some students have been in the classes since June 2020. For this reason, the beginner course is not planned to re-run any time soon. Please accept my apologies for any disappointment.

  • Sitting in person/live online with a teacher is the ideal. Aside from benefitting from them and the blessing of the gathering, it also aids us in consistency.

Having a class at a fixed time, for example, lends itself towards discipline and routine.

Many people have informed me that Arabic courses do not run where they live, and online courses are quite pricey.

For formal Arabic courses, check out various Institutes in the UK. This review by Tawfiq Hamid is a good starting point as it evaluates different courses available in the UK.
